Patients' stories
Nilesh's story
Nilesh was diagnosed with kidney cancer in March 2011.
Nilesh had surgery to remove his kidney and then joined a three-year drug trial, funded by Cancer Research UK, which investigated the best way to reduce the risk of the cancer returning.
"I've been told I only have a 10% chance of the cancer coming back. On the trial, I was very well looked-after and I feel I was seen by the best in the world."
Deborah's story
Mum-of-two Deborah was diagnosed with cancer in January 2007 after noticing a lump in her breast.
Deborah was invited to take part in the TACT-2 trial, which Cancer Research UK has helped to fund, comparing different chemotherapy treatments to try and reduce some of the side effects and improve the long-term benefits.
"If taking part in the trial meant others might be helped in the future then I’m very happy with that."
